Snowy footsteps

I walk in the path set by those before me. Their work has made my march easier. I thank those that laid the trail done, those who broke the first ground and made my path easier. Thank you.

Making vanilla extract

My girlfriend and I bought some cheap vodka and a pound of extract-grade vanilla beans.
We (meaning mostly she) split the beans and shoved them into the bottle.
About 2 months from now, we should have some high quality extract at a fraction of the price!
Also, vanilla beans + milk = ICE CREAM tasting milk.

Cool stuff at the Qualcomm Days @ UIUC

Got to check out the Lenovo Skylight (show in a VT with the OS based on OpenEmbedded) and a reference computer running Chrome OS.
Both running on Qualcomm Snapdragons!

I don't know what I want anymore

It's funny to think about. When I was a kid, I knew exactly what I wanted. Books, games, clothes, I knew which ones I wanted and would compile lists for my parents that contained probably 20 items or more. While I never really felt bad about not getting some of them (20 items is a lot), I've found that as I get older, I can't do that anymore. For Christmas this year, I could barely even think of 3 things I wanted. Granted, they were more expensive items, but even coming up with those three took quite a long time. For my birthday, I can't even think of one item. I'm caught between wanting a new gaming pc, or a new phone, or a new server, but that's all I have. I no longer wonder why adults give each other clothing and socks. If I can't think of anything, what could my parents think of?

Stupidity is Universal

Today I would like to talk about what unites humanity. It's not our genes, our values, nor even our desires. It's stupidity.

Mind-fucking, eye-gouging, feeble-gesture-making stupidity.
Every hemisphere, country, state, city, and neighborhood is full of mouth-breathing, cheese-for-brains retards.
You either know someone you consider a moron, or think Jesus rode dinosaurs in 20 AD.
Case in point: my girlfriend sent my a link to the Chinese equivalent of Yahoo Answers:
Chinese: http://k.pclady.com.cn/question/2049237.html Translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http://k.pclady.com.cn/question/2049237.html&sl=zh-CN&tl=en

Don't worry, the English translation is pretty accurate, and according to my girlfriend, reads like the original.
So, whenever you feel like you must escape from the idiots around you, remember this lesson: everyone is the same everywhere. They're all idiots, and you'll never be free of them.
Enjoy!

Wow, I'm in the Preware list!

So I decided I'd go into the #webos-internals channel to talk about how to do services for the Pre. Along the way, I got my app JSTop published to the Preware list. All in about 3 hours. Took me a few weeks to get into the official App Catalog! I plan on setting up something to allow for comments/suggestions for JSTop, which will probably go into affect soon. Special thanks to rwhitby, oilsworkn, and everyone in the #webos-internals channel!
